Liputan6.com, Jakarta Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy will be sidelined for approximately six weeks due to a left knee bone bruise sustained during a collision in Wednesday’s game against the Chicago White Sox. The injury occurred in the sixth inning when Muncy collided with White Sox center fielder Michael A. Taylor, who was sliding into third base attempting to steal. Muncy tagged Taylor out but fell to the ground in pain after his knee struck Taylor’s helmet.
An MRI scan revealed no structural damage to Muncy’s knee, which the 34-year-old described as a “huge sigh of relief.” Despite avoiding ligament tears or sprains, the bone bruise will keep him off the field for a significant period, with the Dodgers placing him on the injured list on Thursday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed relief at the test results but acknowledged the challenge of losing a key player.

Muncy had been hitting well recently, posting a .250 batting average with 13 home runs and 55 RBIs this season, and was seen as an important contributor as the Dodgers hold an 8.5-game lead in the National League West. To fill his spot, the Dodgers recalled outfielder Esteury Ruiz from Triple-A.
Muncy remains optimistic about returning during the 2025 season and called the injury the “best-case scenario” considering the potential severity of the collision. The Dodgers will now have to adjust their lineup and strategize for the upcoming weeks without their starting third baseman
