Liputan6.com, Jakarta Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath's farewell concert titled “Back to the Beginning” successfully raised US$190 million for charity.

All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to three social organizations in the UK.

The concert, held in Birmingham, Black Sabbath's hometown, was attended by around 40,000 people in person and viewed by more than 5.8 million people online.

For free

All the musicians who performed at the festival performed for free, including Metallica and Pantera.

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, who acted as the concert's musical director, shared the good news via his personal Instagram account.

“We wanted to create the most historic day in heavy metal, and at the same time raise a huge amount of money for a very noble cause,” he wrote.

The three organizations receiving support were Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham Children's Hospital, and Acorn Children's Hospice.

The choice of these organizations cannot be separated from the personal closeness of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, especially with Birmingham Children's Hospital, which they have long supported.

Meanwhile, Cure Parkinson's has been the couple's main concern since Ozzy was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2019.

Birmingham Children's Hospital said they were very grateful.

“This is a wonderful surprise and we are very happy,” said Sheeba Ali, fundraising manager of the organization, as reported by the BBC.

Although details of the funds received by each organization have not been released, all three have received official notification of the donation and have begun to express their appreciation to the musicians involved.
