Jonathan Milan Wins Tour de France Stage 8, Pogačar Stay at the Top

Jonathan Milan won the Tour de France Stage 8 that went from Saint-Méen-le-Grand to Laval, while Tadej Pogačar still leads the overall standings.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Jonathan Milan won the Tour de France Stage 8 which took place on Saturday, July 12. The stage covered a 174.1-kilometer route from Saint-Méen-le-Grand to Laval. Milan took the victory after a strong sprint in the last few hundred meters before the finish line.

Stage 8 was relatively flat with only one small climb, although the total elevation reached around 1,700 meters. The finish line is located about 100 meters from where the first time trial finish was in 2021. Milan's victory outperformed Wout van Aert and Kaden Groves who finished in second and third place.

Meanwhile, Tadej Pogačar still firmly leads the Tour de France 2025 general standings. Pogačar managed to maintain his position after finishing Stage 8 with a solid time. His consistent performance throughout this Tour de France makes him a strong candidate for the championship.


Tour de France Stage 8

Tour de France Stage 8 started from Saint-Méen-le-Grand with a route dominated by flat roads. The riders have to cover 174.1 kilometers before reaching the finish line in Laval. Although the route was relatively flat, the riders still had to face the challenge of a total elevation of around 1,700 meters.

Throughout the stage, several riders tried to make a breakaway, but their efforts were always thwarted by riders from the big teams. The high average speed meant that the riders had to work hard to stay in the front row. The small climbs on the route were also a test for the sprinters.

Entering the final kilometers, the tension increased. Teams began to adjust their positions to prepare their top sprinters. Jonathan Milan showed a great performance with a long and strong sprint in the last few hundred meters. He passed Wout van Aert and Kaden Groves to take the victory.


Tour de France Standings After Stage 8

With a win on Stage 8, Jonathan Milan managed to improve his position in the overall standings. However, the top of the standings is still held by Tadej Pogačar. Pogačar has shown great consistency throughout this Tour de France, making him the favorite to take the title.

Wout van Aert also showed a good performance by finishing in second place on Stage 8. This result helped him to move up a few places in the overall standings. Meanwhile, Kaden Groves had to settle for third place after being overtaken by Milan and Van Aert in the final sprint.

Competition in the Tour de France 2025 is still very tight. The riders will continue to fight for victory in the next stages. Changes in position in the general standings are still very possible, given that there are still many challenging stages ahead.
