Liputan6.com, Jakarta The main stage of the Tomorrowland Festival electronic music festival in Boom, near Antwerp, Belgium, burned down on Wednesday (July 16), just two days before the concert was scheduled to start on Friday (July 18).
Despite severe damage to one of its iconic elements, organizers confirmed that the festival will still open as scheduled.
“Due to a serious incident and fire at the Tomorrowland Main Stage, our beloved Main Stage has been severely damaged,” organizers wrote on the event website.
Make sure no one gets hurt
Images and videos circulating on social media and local news sites showed huge flames and thick black smoke rising from the stage, even spreading to the surrounding forest area. Organizers also confirmed that there were no injuries in the incident.
“We can confirm that no one was injured in the incident,” continued the festival organizer's statement.
The organizers stated that they are currently focused on finding the best solution so that the festival can still run smoothly on the first weekend.
Tomorrowland Festival 2025 is scheduled to take place over two weekends and is expected to attract around 100,000 visitors to the town of Boom. Many of them have planned to camp at DreamVille, a special area provided by the organizers.
The good news is that the DreamVille campground remains open as planned on Thursday (17/7). Some of the biggest names in electronic music, like David Guetta, Lost Frequencies, Armin Van Buuren, and Charlotte de Witte, are scheduled to perform starting Friday.
The schedule was adjusted
Previously, two-thirds of the event was scheduled to take place on the main stage and the Freedom stage, but the schedule is now expected to be adjusted. Hundreds of firefighters have been mobilized to bring the fire under control.
The Antwerp regional prosecutor has launched an investigation, although the fire is currently suspected to be accidental.
Tomorrowland Festival was founded 20 years ago by two Belgian brothers and has now become one of the most famous music festivals in the world.
