Liputan6.com, Jakarta The VTuber community has been rocked by the dramatic collapse of talent agency VShojo, with recent revelations from former member Veibae highlighting severe mismanagement, contract disputes, and failing relationships between the company and its talent.
On July 21, 2025, founding member Ironmouse announced her immediate departure from VShojo, accusing the agency of withholding more than $500,000 in charity funds and failing to pay her due revenue for over a year.
This announcement led to a mass exodus of other talents, including high-profile VTubers Kson, Kuro Kurenai, Projekt Melody, Michi Mochievee, AmaLee, and Hime Hajime. Multiple artists and contractors also reported unpaid dues.
Veibae's Experience and Allegations
Veibae, who left VShojo in 2023, has become vocal following the agency's shutdown and the expiration of her NDA.
She revealed that the company tried to force her into what she described as "one of the most predatory contracts" she had ever seen, with VShojo demanding over half of her sponsor revenue and 60% of merchandise sales.
“And so our NDAs are now void. Back in 2023, vshojo tried to bully me into one of the most predatory contracts that i have ever seen. When I tried to ask more about it, their COO got extremely hostile with me and refused to answer any of my questions and so I had to hire a lawyer in order to get some clarification,” the Vtuber posted on X (formerly Twitter).
According to Veibae, when she attempted to negotiate or seek clarity, the company's COO became "extremely hostile" and refused to answer her questions.
She claims that VShojo then spread negative rumors about her and fellow ex-member Silvervale online, allegedly to protect the company's public image.
Veibae also alleged that, even after signing an NDA, she discovered she hadn’t been paid for sponsor deals and was ultimately asked to pay VShojo $10,000 for partially completed anniversary assets.
After leaving, she had still not been fully reimbursed over two years later.
Talent, Contractor, and Community Reactions
Other departing VShojo talents, such as Nyanners and Silvervale, shared similar stories of being pressured into contracts that didn’t make "financial sense" and experiencing payment issues.
Some reported being threatened with legal action if they spoke publicly about internal problems.
The shutdown also harmed staff and new recruits, with claims that talents and staff were used as "cash cows" to keep the company afloat and left in the dark about its finances.
Debuts were delayed, and many were left unpaid or without promised opportunities.
VShojo's Response and Fallout
VShojo has shut down as of July 24, with former CEO Justin Ignacio confirming that they ran out of money to pay out their talent.
The CEO’s apology and explanations have been widely dismissed in the VTuber community, with fans and creators highlighting contradictions and a lack of accountability—particularly regarding misappropriated charity money and misleading public statements.
The agency’s closure has left a significant mark on the English-speaking VTuber world, serving as a cautionary tale about contract transparency, creator rights, and agency responsibility.
