Liputan6.com, Jakarta The gaming world has been excited once again by the latest announcement from the *Hell Let Loose* franchise.
This time, fans of tactical war games will be transported to a different battlefield: the Vietnam War, with a new standalone title: *Hell Let Loose: Vietnam*.
Developed by Expression Games and published by Team17, *Hell Let Loose: Vietnam* is scheduled to launch in 2026.
The game will be available on various popular platforms, including PC (via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Windows Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Focusing on the conflict between the United States Armed Forces (US Forces) and the People's Army of Vietnam (NVA) that began in 1965, the game will feature massive 50 vs. 50 battles.
Stepping onto the Vietnam Battlefield
The Vietnam War in 1965 sets the stage for *Hell Let Loose: Vietnam*.
Players will engage in the fierce conflict between the US Forces and the NVA, with each faction outfitted with historical accuracy.
This includes detailed uniforms, weaponry, and vehicles and armor used during the era, ensuring an immersive and authentic experience for players.
The game retains the signature 50-vs-50 battles that were the main attraction of *Hell Let Loose*.
However, with the new setting, the strategic gameplay will be enriched with unique elements of the Vietnam War.
Players can choose from 19 specialized roles within a 50-person team, spanning various specialties such as infantry, reconnaissance, armor, mortar squads, and helicopter units.
Gameplay Innovations and New Mechanics
One of the most significant innovations in *Hell Let Loose: Vietnam* is the introduction of a new air unit: the helicopter.
Helicopters will play a crucial role for the US Forces, transporting troops to landing zones, delivering supplies to tactical locations, conducting reconnaissance, and even providing crucial aerial firepower.
On the other hand, the NVA will have the unique ability to construct an extensive tunnel network across the battlefield.
This tunnel system, an extension of the Garrison system in the original game, allows for rapid troop movement and unexpected surprise attacks.
Maps are designed around an extensive river network, with the US Forces controlling armed vessels like the iconic Patrol Boat River (PBR).
Meanwhile, Vietnamese forces will use more stealthy boats, exploiting the maze of waters to their tactical advantage.
Technology Improvements, Release Date, and Accessibility
To support new mechanics and features, *Hell Let Loose: Vietnam* will utilize Unreal Engine 5.
This upgrade to the latest game engine brings significant improvements to performance, visuals, and overall gameplay systems.
Much of the game's base code has been reworked from the ground up to ensure a smooth experience, stunning visuals, and enhanced immersive audio.
While *Hell Let Loose: Vietnam* is currently in development, Team17 and Expression Games have reaffirmed their commitment to continuing to support the original *Hell Let Loose* (World War II) game.
*Hell Let Loose: Vietnam* is scheduled for release in 2026.
Before the full launch, a beta will also be held that same year, giving players the opportunity to try out new features and provide feedback to the developers.
