Liputan6.com, Jakarta Alan Markovitz, a strip club owner from Detroit, made headlines for putting up a 12-foot-tall bronze statue of a middle finger in his backyard. The statue directly faces his ex-wife’s house and cost about $7,000. To make sure it could be seen at all times, Markovitz even added spotlights to light it up day and night.

Not Against His Ex-Wife

Markovitz explained that the statue was not meant for his ex-wife, but for her new partner. He claimed the man had started dating her while they were still married. For him, the statue was a way to show his anger toward the new partner rather than his ex-wife.

Interestingly, Markovitz bought the house next door after the affair came to light. He said it was just a coincidence suggested by the real estate agent. But once he realized who lived there, he felt that "karma took over."

Symbol of Anger

The giant statue quickly went viral online, with many people reacting to the extreme gesture. For some, it became a symbol of pettiness; for others, a shocking expression of heartbreak and anger.

Markovitz’s Background

Aside from this headline-making act, Markovitz is also known for owning several strip clubs in Detroit and for having his own reality TV show. He said the statue was less about his ex-wife and more about calling out her new partner for breaking what he called “the man code.”
