Developer Full Circle, a studio under Electronic Arts, is busy developing the game as a "live-service" experience, which means "Skate." will continue to evolve and receive regular content updates after its initial release.
As of September 2025, the game remains in active development and has no announced full release date.
Access to "Skate." is currently limited to a closed playtest program and interested players in trying the game can register to participate in the playtest through the official "Skate" website.
Skate.: Official Name and Other Details
The long-awaited game from the skate community now has an official name.
The title is no longer 'Skate 4,' but rather 'Skate.' with a period at the end.
The development of 'Skate.' is handled by Full Circle, a game studio under the Electronic Arts banner.
Delivering a massively multiplayer skateboarding experience in a completely open world, Skate. is set in the ever-growing city of San Vansterdam, where every street and rooftop presents new opportunities for tricks and self-expression.
Players can explore four distinct neighborhoods, each with unique terrain, atmosphere, and skate spots to discover.
From rooftops and canals to plazas, parks, and a heavenly cathedral transformed into a trick haven, San Vansterdam is the ultimate skater's playground.
“We’re thrilled to welcome everyone to San Vansterdam and the best skateboarding the franchise has ever delivered,” said Mike McCartney, Executive Producer of skate.
“We’ve focused on perfecting the core skateboarding experience - capturing the thrill of discovery, individual creativity and the satisfaction of finally landing that insane trick. Early Access isn’t a regular launch, it’s an invitation to help shape skate.’s future as we continue to build and push the boundaries of what this game can be.”
How to Access and Download Skate in September 2025
As of September 2025, no official release date for the full version of 'Skate.' has been announced by Full Circle or Electronic Arts.
However, players can access the early version.
As reported by GameRant, if you want to play Skate (2025), here are several choices to access the free-to-play Skate. video games:
- You can install the Epic Games launcher and download the game from there (it's active, I've checked!)
- You can also download the EA app and get it from there.
- For PS5 users, if the game isn't showing up in the store, you can download the PS app on your phone and search for the game there. Press the button to add it to your library, then install it on your console.
- For those playing on Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S, you can turn on your console, head to the store, and simply search for Skate. I own an Xbox and can confirm that the game is there and available to download and install.
It's worth noting that even if you download the game from Epic, you'll still need to install the EA app on your PC.
