Fox has officially announced the cancellation of the animated comedy series The Great North after five seasons. What led to the cancellation?

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Recently, Fox officially announcing the cancellation of the popular animated comedy series, The Great North, after the series aired five seasons

The cancellation announcement was made in early October 2025, less than a month after the final episode of the fifth season aired.

This cancellation ends the run of The Great North, which has aired a total of 97 episodes since its premiere on January 3, 2021.

This decision also aligns with speculation that had been circulating since early 2025, when The Great North was not included in Fox's 2025-2026 season schedule.

The removal of The Great North from Fox's lineup marks the end of the Tobin family's adventures in Alaska.

Officially Canceled: Fox Cancels The Great North

Fox officially ended the animated series The Great North after five consistent seasons.

The announcement was made in early October 2025, with some sources citing October 3, 2025, as the official cancellation date.

This decision came shortly after the final episode of the fifth season aired on September 14, 2025.

The series first debuted on January 3, 2021, and aired a total of 97 episodes during its run.

The fifth season, which will also be the final season, will premiere either December 22, 2024, or February 16, 2025.

Speculation about the show's fate had been circulating since early 2025, especially when The Great North wasn't included in Fox's 2025-2026 season schedule announced in May.

What Cause The Cancellation?

One of the main reasons behind Fox's decision to cancel The Great North was its underwhelming ratings performance.

The series was listed as one of Fox's lowest-rated scripted series during the 2024-2025 TV season.

The fifth season of The Great North averaged a 0.14 rating in the 18-49 demographic and attracted only about 520,000 viewers.

It shows a significant decrease of 12% in the demographic and 8% in total viewers compared to the fourth season.

Furthermore, Fox also has a strong slate of animated series ready to fill its schedule.

The network has renewed popular series like Family Guy, American Dad!, The Simpsons, and Bob's Burgers for additional seasons.
