Bad Bunny has previously made notable appearances on SNL, including his hosting debut in October 2023 and his musical guest appearance on the 50th season finale in May 2025.
His hosting appearance immediately following his musical guest appearance on the previous episode makes him the first star to appear on two consecutive episodes, a feat that cements his status in the entertainment world.
Bad Bunny on SNL
Bad Bunny, the stage name of Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, returned to the SNL stage as host on October 4, 2025.
This was his second hosting appearance after a successful debut in October 2023, demonstrating his popularity and mastery of the iconic sketch comedy show.
Previously, in May 2025, Bad Bunny also appeared as the musical guest on the 50th season finale of SNL, hosted by Scarlett Johansson.
This moment was crucial because he then returned as host on the opening episode of the following season, making history as the first star in five decades of SNL to appear on two consecutive episodes, both as host and musical guest.
Controversial Monologue and Special Guest Star
In his opening monologue, Bad Bunny didn't hesitate to poke fun at Fox News' response to his selection as the headliner for the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show.
He played a humorously edited clip of Fox News, turning criticism into effusive praise, as if the Fox News hosts were calling him their favorite musician and a man who should be the next president.
Furthermore, Bad Bunny spoke in Spanish throughout his monologue, thanking his Latino fans and emphasizing the importance of the Latino community's contributions to the United States.
He concluded the Spanish portion with the defiant line, "If you don't understand what I just said, you have four months to learn," referring to the upcoming Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026.
The episode also featured guest appearances by Jon Hamm and Benicio Del Toro, who participated in several comedy sketches.
Bad Bunny even joked that he considered hosting SNL a "break" from his busy 31-show concert residency schedule.
Doja Cat's Debut and Changes in Season 51
The 51st season of SNL, which premiered on October 4, 2025, also marked the debut of Doja Cat as a musical guest.
She performed songs from her latest album, "Vie," which was released just a week before her SNL appearance, giving fans a chance to experience the new material live.
SNL introduced five new cast members: Ben Marshall (promoted from the writing staff of "Please Don't Destroy"), Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson, and Veronika Slowikowska.
Meanwhile, several veteran cast members, such as Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow, and Emil Wakim, have departed the show.
Amidst these changes, Kenan Thompson returned for season 23, making him the longest-serving cast member in the show's history.
