Liputan6.com, Jakarta Ike Turner Jr., son of legendary musicians Ike Turner and Tina Turner, has reportedly passed away at the age of 67.

He passed away at a hospital in Los Angeles, United States, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, just one day after his birthday.

According to Tina’s niece, Jacqueline Bullock, the primary cause of Ike Turner Jr.'s death was kidney failure.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my cousin, Ike Turner, Jr. ‘Junior’ was more than a cousin to me, but rather a brother, as we grew up in the same famed household together.”

His death was confirmed on social media by sister-in-law Afida Turner, who wrote on Instagram, “REST IN PEACE IKE JR : U WAS AMAZING BROTHER IN LAW I M GLAD I SPEAK WITH U ON A PHONE BEFORE U GONE LOVE U RIP 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻.”

His health had been declining drastically in recent years and known to have suffered from severe heart problems.

In addition to his heart problems, Ike Turner Jr. had also suffered a stroke the previous month, which further worsened his health.


Family Profile and Background

Ike Turner Jr. was born in 1958 to Ike Turner Sr. and Lorraine Taylor.

However, he was adopted by Tina Turner at the age of two, after Tina married Ike Sr. Since then, Tina Turner has been a very important maternal figure in his life.

On one occasion, Ike Jr. once stated that Tina was the only mother he had ever known.

He grew up in a musically vibrant family, one of four children raised by the legendary musician couple.

In a 2018 interview with the Daily Mail, Turner, Jr. noted he was raised mostly by housekeepers, as his parents were “gone 11 months out of a year.”

He recalled, “My father took me out of school at 13. I ended up running his recording studio, plus going on the road with them. They made a lot of money on tour and my father used to make me count it until my hands were gray.”

Following in his parents' footsteps, Ike Turner Jr. also possessed extraordinary musical talent.

He was known as a musician, sound engineer, and producer.

From an early age, he showed an interest in various musical instruments.

Initially, Ike Jr. was passionate about the drums, but at the urging of his mother, Tina Turner, he later switched to keyboards.

He also excelled at playing the guitar and bass. His musical prowess was undeniable.

Ike Jr. helped manage Bolic Sound Studios, the recording studio founded by his father, Ike Turner Sr.

He also worked as a sound engineer for Tina Turner after her parents' separation, although the collaboration was short-lived.

He culminated in a Grammy Award in 2007 for Best Traditional Blues Album for his work on his father's album, "Risin' With The Blues."

In his later years, he actively played in a tribute band called The Love Thang.


Personal Life and Challenges

Despite his famous family background, Ike Turner Jr. largely kept out of the public eye in his later years.

However, he remained connected to his parents' musical legacy.

In an interview, he revealed that he hadn't spoken to Tina Turner since around 2000.

While he admitted he was deeply estranged from his mother before her death in 2023 and the abuse he faced at the hands of his father growing up, the musician said he tries to “do right by the [family] name” through his tribute band The Love Thang.

Ike Jr.'s life was also marked by legal troubles.

In May 2023, he was arrested and charged with cocaine possession and tampering with evidence that happened just weeks before Tina Turner's death.

Ike Jr.'s passing follows a series of heartbreaks for the Turner family.

His father, Ike Turner Sr., died in 2007.

His half-brother, Craig, died in 2018, followed by Ronnie in 2022, and his adoptive mother, Tina Turner, in 2023.
