The sentence was handed down by a New York federal judge on October 3, 2025.

He was acquitted of more serious charges such as racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

In addition to the prison sentence, Combs was also ordered to pay a $500,000 fine.

After completing his sentence, he will serve five years of supervised release.

Why Sean Combs' Legal Team Request Fort Dix?

On October 6, 2025, Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal team formally filed a request for placement at Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix.

This request was submitted by Combs' attorney, Teny Geragos, to Judge Arun Subramanian.

FCI Fort Dix is a low-security federal prison located in New Jersey.

The primary reason behind the request for placement at Fort Dix is the availability of the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP).

Combs' legal team believes this program will help their client overcome his drug abuse issues.

In addition to the RDAP, Fort Dix's proximity to Combs' family was also an important consideration.

Combs' attorneys stated that placement at Fort Dix would maximize rehabilitation efforts.

FCI Fort Dix: Will Sean Combs' Request Accepted?

In a letter to Subramanian on the eve of sentencing, Combs said he has gone through a "spiritual reset" in jail and is "committed to the journey of remaining a drug free, non-violent and peaceful person."

"I thank God that I'm stronger, wiser, clean, clear and sober," he wrote.

Although the legal team has submitted recommendations, the final decision regarding Sean "Diddy" Combs' prison placement rests with the Bureau of Prisons.

However, Subramanian has not yet acted on the request to recommend placement at FCI Fort Dix, according to CBS News.

Judges often make recommendations about where inmates should serve time, but it's up to the Bureau of Prisons to decide.
