The news of Arturo Gatti Jr.'s passing was confirmed by his longtime trainer, Moe Latif, via social media, who stated that the news was not a rumor.
Gatti's former bodyguard, Chuck Zito, shared the news in a social media post on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
"It is unfortunately not a rumor or a joke. Arturo is gone."
"I'd appreciate if you stop reaching out at this time," Latif requested in an Instagram Story.
Chuck Zito, who was also his father's former bodyguard confirmed the death and send condolesence.
"It's with a heavy heart that I have to say,.... R.I.P. to 17-year-old ARTURO GATTI JR., Zito wrote on Instagram, adding that Gatti Jr. had died by suicide in Mexico.

Chuck Zito also said that Gatti Jr. was found hanged, similar to his father's death 16 years ago.
"The same way they found his Father dead in an apartment in Brazil 16 years ago," Zito said, referring to Gatti Sr.'s mysterious death which was perviously considered as suicide in 2009.
Jean Pascal, a former world champion, expressed his condolences on social media, highlighting the tragic similarities to his father's death.

Arturo Gatti Jr.'s death came almost 16 years after the death of his father, Arturo Gatti Sr., in July 2009 in Brazil.
Gatti Sr.'s death was also shrouded in controversy and mystery.
His death was initially investigated as a homicide, with Amanda Rodrigues, Gatti Jr.'s mother, briefly arrested as a suspect.
However, Brazilian authorities later concluded that Gatti Sr. died by suicide by hanging.
