President Donald Trump revealed that he had undergone an MRI in October 2025. Why was this second MRI performed and what is the speculation behind it?

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Recently, President Donald Trump is reportedly underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan in October 2025.

Trump confirm this to reporters on October 27, 2025, while en route to Tokyo.

The US president stated that the MRI results were "perfect."

This medical exam involving an MRI was Donald Trump's second in the last six months of 2025.

The visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on October 10, 2025, was initially described as a "routine annual checkup" or "semi-annual physical" by the White House.

His first physical exam in 2025 had occurred in April.

Exam Details and Official Statement

"I gave you the full results," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on the way to Japan when he was asked whether he had received one that day.

"We had an MRI, MRI and the machine, you know, the whole thing, and it was perfect."

Trump's presidential physician, Captain Sean Barbarella, issued a memo following the October medical exam.

In the memo, Barbarella stated that Trump was in "excellent health" and that his "heart age" was found to be approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age.

The memo also stated that Trump underwent “advanced imaging, laboratory testing, and a preventative health assessment.”

However, the initial White House report did not explicitly mention an MRI, which Trump later confirmed.

Reasons for the MRI and Medical Speculation

Donald Trump did not provide a specific explanation for the reason for his MRI, referring questions to his doctors.

Medical experts, including prominent cardiologist Dr. Jonathan Reiner, have argued that MRIs are generally not part of a routine examination.

“Typically, they’re prompted by symptoms. They can be neurologic symptoms that prompt an MRI,” Dr. Jonathan Reiner told CNN.

“They could be back pain that prompts an MRI. There can be issues with the heart that would prompt an MRI. And for those reasons, the public should really be told, you know, why did the president undergo the test, what consultants he saw, and what was the result of the testing?”

Dr. Reiner suggested that Trump's MRI may have been triggered by neurological or cardiovascular symptoms that were not disclosed to the public.

Previous Health Conditions

Before the recent MRI, Donald Trump had faced several health issues that were made public in 2025.

In July 2025, the White House announced that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI).

The CVI diagnosis came after photographs showed swelling in his feet and ankles.

CVI is a common condition that occurs when the veins in the legs fail to properly return blood to the heart, often occurring in individuals over 70.

Furthermore, Trump was also known to have bruising on his right hand.

The White House explained that the bruising was caused by frequent handshakes and the use of aspirin as part of his cardiovascular prevention regimen.
