Liputan6.com, Jakarta Toyota is again issuing a mass recall of millions of vehicles in the United States.

This recall covers various models from the Toyota, Lexus, and even the Subaru Solterra brands, identified as having potentially serious issues related to driver safety.

Official notifications to owners of affected vehicles are scheduled to be sent in late 2025, specifically in November and December.

The primary issues behind this recall vary, ranging from a faulty rearview camera system, a malfunctioning instrument panel display, to a welding problem with the second-row seat rail.

Vehicle owners are advised to verify their vehicle's status through the official Toyota website or the NHTSA by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

PVM Rearview Camera Issue

One of Toyota's largest recalls involves more than one million vehicles in the US due to a problem with the rearview camera (Panoramic View Monitor) system.

The recall covers approximately 1,024,407 vehicles from the 2022-2026 model years of Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru Solterra vehicles equipped with the PVM system, as reported by Yahoo News.

Affected Toyota models range widely, including the Camry, Crown, Crown Signia, Highlander, Grand Highlander, RAV4 (including Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid), bZ4X, Mirai, Prius, and Venza.

Lexus models affected include the ES, LS, LX, NX, GX, RX, and TX SUVs.

The fault stems from software in the parking assist ECU, which can cause the rearview camera image to freeze or display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse.

This condition makes the vehicle non-compliant with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 111, 'Rear Visibility'.

As a solution, dealers will update the parking assistance software free of charge for all affected units.

Owner notifications are expected to be issued between December 16 and 30, 2025.

Instrument Panel Display Defects

In addition to the camera issue, Toyota is also issuing a voluntary safety recall involving approximately 591,000 vehicles in the US due to instrument panel display defects.

Affected vehicles include the Toyota Venza, Crown, Crown Signia, RAV4, GR Corolla, 4Runner, Camry, Grand Highlander, Tacoma, Highlander, and several Lexus models such as the LS, RX, and TX.

This issue focuses on the 12.3-inch instrument panel display.

To address this issue, authorized Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect and update the combination meter programming.

If necessary, the component will be replaced with a better one to ensure optimal functionality.

Tundra and Sequoia Rearview Cameras

Another significant recall affects approximately 393,838 vehicles, including the 2022-2025 Toyota Tundra, Tundra Hybrid, and Sequoia Hybrid models.

This recall also concerns a rearview camera issue, similar to the PVM recall but covering different models.

A software error is the primary cause of this issue.

This condition also fails to comply with FMVSS 111, 'Rear Visibility,' which is an important safety standard.

As a solution, dealers will update the multimedia display software free of charge for all affected units.

Notification letters to owners of these vehicles are expected to be mailed on November 16, 2025.
