Grand Theft Auto VI fans will have to be patient again as Rockstar Games has announced another delay for GTA 6.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Grand Theft Auto VI is now once again being delayed Rockstar Games has officially announced shifted its release date to November 19, 2026.

This delay means players will have to wait approximately six months longer than previously scheduled.

"We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve," Rockstar said in its official website.

"We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City."

GTA 6's Second Delay and Updated Schedule

Rockstar Games has set Thursday, November 19, 2026, as the new official release date for Grand Theft Auto VI.

This schedule represents a significant delay from the previously announced release date of May 26, 2026.

Previously, GTA 6 was planned for a fall 2025 launch, but was then delayed for the first time to May 2026.

Rockstar Games apologized for the delay, explaining that the additional months will allow them to complete the game with the level of polish players expect and deserve.

The Main Reason Behind the GTA 6 Delay

Rockstar Games emphasized that the primary goal was to provide additional time to refine the game to the desired level of quality.

They want to ensure every detail and aspect of the game is optimally functioning before its public release.

Take-Two Interactive CEO, Strauss Zelnick, also explained the philosophy behind this decision.

According to Zelnick, if a game needs further polish to be its best version, then the extra time will be given without hesitation.

In a release shared with IGN, Take-Two shared that the delay was "giving the team some additional time to finish the game with the high level of polish players expect and deserve. Rockstar has our full support of course, and we are confident they will deliver an unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience."

Zelnick also added that "when our competitors release something before it's ready, bad things happen."

However, the announcement of the GTA 6 delay impacted not only fans but also the financial markets.

The stock price of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games' parent company, reportedly fell nearly $30 per share in after-hours trading.

GTA 6 Game Details and Development Process

Grand Theft Auto VI will take players to the sprawling state of Leonidas, returning to the iconic modern-day Vice City.

The game will feature two main protagonists, Jason and Lucia, offering different perspectives on the story.

GTA 6 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, while a PC version has not yet been officially announced.

Development of the game has been underway since 2018 at Rockstar North in Edinburgh, with support from other studios in New York and around the world.

In February 2024, Rockstar asked its employees to return to full-time office work starting in April, citing "productivity and safety" concerns during the "final stages" of development.

This decision drew criticism from the Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB), which accused the company of union busting after several employees were laid off in October 2025.
