FDNY Firefighter Patrick Brady, 42, died on Saturday night, November 8, 2025, after suffering a fatal heart attack.

The tragic incident happened while Brady was battling a fire at an apartment building on Kings Highway in Brooklyn.
This marks the 1,163rd FDNY officer lost in the line of duty and the second death for the department in the past two weeks, following the death of Paramedic Salih Abdur Rahman on October 29.
Patrick Brady's Profile and Dedication
Patrick Brady was an FDNY veteran with 11 years of dedicated service.
He was commissioned into the FDNY on July 14, 2014, starting his career with Engine Company 227 in Brooklyn.
In 2022, Brady was transferred to Ladder 120, where he served until his death.
He was known as a devoted Queens resident and a respected member of the community.
Brady's family had strong ties to the FDNY; his two brothers, Jimmy and Brian, were also firefighters.
Furthermore, several of his cousins and uncles also served in the departmen.
Mayor Eric Adams even stated that "this family is a firefighting family" who consistently strive to protect New Yorkers.
How the Tragic Incident in Brooklyn Happened
The incident that claimed Patrick Brady's life happened on the roof of a six-story apartment building at 9407 Kings Highway in Brownsville.
At approximately 9:38 p.m. local time, Brady suffered a heart attack while battling the fire.
Fellow firefighters and FDNY paramedics immediately rendered first aid at the scene.
He was then rushed to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center for further treatment.
Unfortunately, Patrick Brady's life could not be saved, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The exact cause of the fire Brady was battling remains under investigation.
The FDNY press office stated that the fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire and the details of Brady's medical episode.

More than 250 firefighters gathered outside Brookdale Hospital for a memorial service, paying their respects as Brady’s flag-draped body was carried out.
Purple and black flags were also displayed at Brady’s firehouse as a sign of respect.Father Bill Sweeney of St. Francis de Sales Parish remembered Brady as a “great kid” who was always smiling and engaged.
FDNY Captain Scott Coyne described Brady as “an organizer, an informal leader, and he always brightened up the room."
