Actress Claudia Black will not be returning as Nightsister Klothow in Star Wars Ahsoka Season 2. Here's the reason behind the actress' surprising decision.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Actress Claudia Black, best known for her role as Nightsister Klothow in the Star Wars: Ahsoka series, will not be returning for the second season.

As reported by The Independent, Black has been transparent about her reasons, saying salary disputes with Disney and Lucasfilm.

She explained that the compensation offered did not meet her needs as a single mother based in Los Angeles.

“It was not something that they could make happen, and therefore, I had to bow out for season two," she said, as reported by The Independent.

Claudia Black's Main Reason for Leaving Star Wars: Ahsoka

Claudia Black has publicly stated that her main reason for not returning for Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 was a salary dispute.

Disney and Lucasfilm were unable to meet the compensation she needed as a single mother.

Black explained that she had financial responsibilities in Los Angeles that the existing salary offer couldn't meet.

”Well, I’m going to be transparent,” she told Bleeding Cool.

“They picked up season two, picked me up with it, and then Disney, which is structuring things differently these days, could not pay me what I needed to be paid as a single mother to keep all my responsibilities going at home in Los Angeles, because they were filming in London.”

The first season of Ahsoka was filmed at Manhattan Beach Studios in Los Angeles, where Black is based.

However, production for the second season was moved to London, England.

She also stated, "They call it 'show business' for a reason. It's like 90 percent business and 10 percent show."

Claudia Black 's "Nightsister Klothow" Role in Ahsoka Series

In the first season of Star Wars: Ahsoka, Claudia Black portrayed Klothow, one of the three Great Mothers, or Nightsisters.

Klothow is depicted as the leader of the Nightsister trio and a confidant of Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Her role is central to the plot, particularly in Thrawn's quest to return to the main galaxy.

Along with the other Nightsisters, Klothow possesses powerful mystical abilities.

They aid Thrawn in his plan to raise an undead army, adding a magical element and a new threat to Ahsoka Tano and her allies.

The Fate of Klothow's Character in Ahsoka Season 2

Claudia Black's departure means that Klothow will not be played by the same actress in Ahsoka Season 2.

Also, it's unclear whether Klothow's role will be recast or whether the character will be removed from the story.

However, given Klothow's importance as the leader of the Nightsisters and Thrawn's confidant, it's likely the role will be filled by another actress.

Black expressed her sadness at not being able to continue her role.

She even emailed Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni to express her gratitude for the opportunity.

She cherished her experience in the Star Wars universe, the franchise she's been a part of since childhood, and the special moments she shared with her son.

While there is a change in one of the supporting cast members, the rest of the main cast is confirmed to return.

Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka Tano), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine Wren), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Hera Syndulla), Ivanna Sakhno (Shin Hati), Eman Esfandi (Ezra Bridger), Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker), and Lars Mikkelsen (Grand Admiral Thrawn) will reprise their roles.

Rory McCann will also replace Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll.

Ahsoka Season 2 is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2026.
