Despite leaving the facility, Jen Shah was not fully released; instead, she was transferred to community confinement.
This status is under the strict supervision of the Phoenix Residential Reentry Management Office of the Bureau of Prisons (BOP).
The specific location of her community confinement has not been disclosed to the public, citing privacy, security, and individual safety.
Jen Shah's release resulted from a significant sentence reduction from her initial sentence of six and a half years, or 78 months.
Jen Shah's Release from Prison Details
Jen Shah was officially released from physical custody on December 10, 2025, after serving 2 years, 9 months, and 23 days.
This time period equates to the 33 months she had already served at the FPC Bryan, Texas facility.
"We can confirm that Jennifer Shah transferred on December 10, 2025, from the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan to community confinement overseen by the Bureau of Prisons' (BOP) Phoenix Residential Reentry Management (RRM) Office," a BOP spokesperson told PEOPLE.
"Community confinement means the inmate is in either home confinement or a Residential Reentry Center (RRC, or halfway house). For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not disclose an individual's specific location while in community confinement."
Her release did not mean full freedom, but rather a transition to community confinement, closely monitored by the relevant authorities.
Jen Shah's initial sentence was six and a half years, but this sentence was reduced several times due to various factors, including good behavior while in prison, active participation in rehabilitation programs, and her efforts to pay restitution to victims were also important considerations in the decision to reduce her sentence.
Jen Shah's sentence reduction process took place in stages, beginning in March 2023, then continuing in October 2024, January 2025, and finally in August 2025.
Jen Shah's Legal Case and Guilty Plea
In March 2021, Jen Shah faced serious charges when she was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering.
The case involved a telemarketing scheme that targeted thousands of individuals, including seniors, by offering services falsely marketed as business development tools, such as "website building and coaching."
The arrest came as a shock to many, especially RHOSLC fans.
After a lengthy legal battle, in July 2022, Jen Shah changed her plea to guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
As part of the plea agreement, the money laundering charges against her were dropped.
Prosecutors alleged that Shah and his assistant, Stuart Smith, used shell companies, encrypted messaging, and offshore banking to conceal their illegal operations from authorities.
As part of her sentence, Jen Shah was ordered to pay $6.5 million in restitution to victims harmed by her fraudulent scheme.
At her sentencing on January 6, 2023, Shah publicly expressed remorse.
"I am sorry. My actions have hurt innocent people. I want to apologize by saying, I did everything I could to raise the funds to pay restitution."
