The team, which will be known as the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, is the result of a significant collaboration between GM and TWG Motorsports.
The decision to enter F1 followed a lengthy and complex negotiation process, including a change of ownership and approval from motorsport's governing body, the FIA.
With an expansion cost of US$450 million, Cadillac is poised to challenge the dominance of existing teams.
Cadillac's F1 debut in 2026 will begin at the Australian Grand Prix at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne on Friday, March 6.

Cadillac's Journey to Formula 1
In January 2023, General Motors, through its Cadillac brand, partnered with Andretti Global, led by Michael Andretti, to express interest in participating.
This initial proposal was then approved by the FIA in October 2023 after evaluating an "Expression of Interest" submitted by Andretti Formula Racing.
However, Formula One Group (FOG) initially rejected the offer, primarily because GM had not yet committed to building its own F1 engine.
The situation changed dramatically in November 2024 when TWG Global, a sponsor led by billionaire Mark Walter, took over control of the project from the Andretti family.
Michael Andretti remained in an advisory role, while his father, Mario Andretti, joined the board of directors.
In November 2024, Formula One granted provisional approval, followed by full approval in March 2025.
This approval allowed Cadillac to sign the Concorde Agreement.
Finally, on March 7, 2025, the FIA officially confirmed Cadillac F1 as the 11th member of the 2026 Formula 1 lineup.
Team Structure and Drivers
Graeme Lowdon has been appointed Team Principal, bringing his managerial expertise.
Meanwhile, Dan Towriss of TWG Motorsports serves as CEO, and Rob White as COO, ensuring the team's operational efficiency. Nick Chester holds the position of Chief Technical Officer, responsible for the car's technical development.
Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas have been confirmed as its lead drivers for 2026. Both drivers bring years of Formula 1 experience, with Pérez renowned for his consistency and Bottas for his speed and ability.
Colton Herta, a talented IndyCar driver, will serve as test driver.
