Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Blizzard Entertainment officially announced the addition of the eighth character class, the Warlock, to their legendary game, Diablo II: Resurrected.

It marks the first new class addition in over 25 years.

The Warlock's arrival coincides with the Diablo franchise's 30th anniversary celebration, will be available to play on February 11th or 12th, 2026, as part of the latest expansion, "Reign of the Warlock."

With a unique playstyle and diverse abilities, the Warlock offers adventurers new strategies and combinations.

"Reign of the Warlock": An Expansion Full of Surprises

The Warlock class is introduced through a new paid DLC called "Reign of the Warlock," an expansion that promises a wealth of exciting content.

The expansion can be purchased individually for $24.99 through Battle.net, or as part of the Diablo II: Resurrected Infernal Edition bundle for $39.99, available on Battle.net and Steam.

In addition to introducing the Warlock class, "Reign of the Warlock" also brings a number of significant quality of life (QoL) improvements, include updated Terror Zones, challenging Colossal Ancient encounters, improved loot filters, and an improved save tab.

The updated Terror Zones allow players to control where they fight and how they progress, with overhauled enemy difficulty scaling and new mechanics.

Warlock Playstyle

Warlocks are described as "masters of forbidden magic, forbidden rituals, and knowledge the world refuses to understand."

They are masters of forbidden arts capable of summoning demons, casting destructive magic, or even engaging in direct combat, perfect for gamers who enjoy a strategic playstyle with elements of darkness and mystical power.

The Warlock playstyle centers on summoning, binding, and even consuming demons, allows players to adapt their approach to various combat situations.

Warlocks are disciplined, unsavory, and deeply embedded in Sanctuary's upper social strata, where knowledge is power and secrets are currency.

Forbidden Power: Warlock Skill Trees

The Warlock class has three distinct skill trees, each offering a unique development path and distinct strengths, where players can choose to focus on one tree or combine skills from all three to create a hybrid playstyle.

  • Eldritch: This tree focuses on weapon manipulation and curses. Warlocks can enhance their weapons, telekinetically move them for powerful attacks, create astral projection, mirror their weapons, or curse enemies to explode or drain life. These skills allow Warlocks to control the battlefield and effectively weaken enemies.
  • Demon: Revolves around summoning and controlling demons. Warlocks can command Goatmen for melee combat, Tainted for ranged support, or Defilers, which bind enemy souls together. They can also bind and manipulate demons found in the world, moving, exploding, healing, or consuming them. This ability gives Warlocks access to a powerful demonic army.
  • Chaos: Focuses on fire-based magic and spellcasting. Large AoE fire spells, entropy clouds, and earth sigils allow Warlocks to control space and overwhelm enemies with raw power. The Chaos tree is ideal for players who enjoy dealing large amounts of damage and controlling enemy positions.

New Items and Quality Improvements

The "Reign of the Warlock" expansion not only brings a new class but also adds over 30 exciting new items.

These include Sets, Unique Items, Runewords, and a new item type called "Books," which serve as a special shield for Warlocks.

The addition of these items will enrich the game's loot-foraging and character-building experience.

Some of the new items mentioned include Hellwarden's Will (a Unique Death Mask), Sling Ring (a Unique Ring with magic resistance), and Opalvein (a Unique Ring with random elemental damage).

These items will give players more options to optimize their Warlocks and find the most effective combination for their playstyle.

Other quality-of-life improvements include stackable storage tabs, a fully customizable loot filter, and updated storage tabs for gems, materials, and runes.
