Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Toy Story 5 release of its official trailer on February 19, 2026, previews the sequel to Toy Story 4 (2019), produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures.

This fifth installment will revisit the iconic adventures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear as they face new challenges in the digital age.

In this first trailer, audiences are treated to the reunion of Woody and Buzz Lightyear, who must face a technological invasion in Bonnie's room.

They will fight for Bonnie's attention, who is now more interested in new digital devices.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on June 19, 2026.

The main conflict centers on how the old toys adapt to the presence of modern digital devices, specifically Lilypad, a frog-shaped tablet that becomes Bonnie's new favorite.

The Return of Old Friends

The emotional trailer for Toy Story 5 showcases the return of Woody, the beloved cowboy who was separated from his friends at the end of Toy Story 4.

He is seen with some signs of wear and tear, including a bald spot on his head, hinting at the long journey he has been on.

His return is highly anticipated as he helps the other toys navigate their identity crisis amidst the onslaught of technology.

Buzz Lightyear, the intrepid space explorer, also returns to accompany Woody on this adventure.

Along with Jessie, the cowgirl who now leads the toys in Bonnie's room, they must find a way to stay relevant.

Jessie herself reveals her insecurities as a leader and feels the need to call Woody back for guidance.

The trailer also hints at the return of other favorite characters like Forky, Bo Peep, Slinky Dog, Hamm, Rex, Dolly, and Duke Caboom.

The Threat of New Technology: Lilypad and the Digital Age

The central conflict in Toy Story 5 centers on the theme of "Toy meets Tech," where classic toys must compete with modern digital devices.

The trailer shows Jessie revealing to Woody that 8-year-old Bonnie is now more captivated by Lilypad.

Lilypad, a frog-shaped tablet voiced by Greta Lee, is portrayed as a threat to traditional, imaginative play.

Director Andrew Stanton explains that the film is not about a battle between good and evil, but rather an exploration of how cherished childhood rituals evolve.

In addition to Lilypad, the trailer also introduces other technological characters such as Smarty Pants, a technological potty-training toy voiced by Conan O'Brien.

Behind the Scenes: Director and Story Premise

Andrew Stanton, who was announced as director in June 2024, brings a fresh vision to Toy Story 5, responsible for writing the screenplay with Kenna Harris.

This film marks the first time in the main series without the involvement of co-creator John Lasseter, who left Pixar at the end of 2018, providing an opportunity for a fresh approach.

The story premise will deeply explore what it means to be a toy in an age of ever-evolving technology, forcing the toys adapting to a world increasingly dominated by gadgets.

Jessie will take center stage, leading the toys in Bonnie's room and facing the pressure of keeping them together.

The development of the fifth film was confirmed by Disney CEO Bob Iger in February 2023.

Legendary Voice Actors and New Faces

Toy Story 5 will bring back the legendary voice cast that has become iconic for these characters.

Tom Hanks returns as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack as Jessie.

In addition, Annie Potts (Bo Peep), Blake Clark (Slinky Dog), John Ratzenberger (Hamm), Wallace Shawn (Rex), Bonnie Hunt (Dolly), and Keanu Reeves (Duke Caboom) will also return.

For the characters of Mr. Potato Head and Mrs. Potato Head, Jeff Bergman and Anna Vocino will take over the roles previously played by Don Rickles and Estelle Harris.

Greta Lee will voice Lilypad, a frog-shaped tablet that is at the center of the conflict.

Conan O'Brien joins the cast as Smarty Pants, a potty-training tech toy, while Ernie Hudson stars as Combat Carl, Anna Faris in an undisclosed role, and Craig Robinson as Atlas, a cheerful GPS hippo toy.
