Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to face his old rival, Floyd Mayweather Jr., in a highly anticipated professional fight.

This historic rematch will take place on September 19th at the iconic Sphere in Las Vegas, live on Netflix's global streaming platform.

This fight will be the first professional boxing match to be held at the $2.3 billion immersive venue.

Both legendary boxers are eager to prove themselves once again in the ring, promising a fight that will be just as exciting as before.

The fight will be streamed globally on Netflix at no additional cost to subscribers.

Preparation of the Two Legendary Boxers

Floyd Mayweather Jr., who will be 49 years old, has announced his intention to end his nine-year retirement from competitive boxing.

With a perfect professional record of 50-0 and 27 knockouts, Mayweather is confident of repeating his victory over Manny Pacquiao, as he did in their first meeting in 2015.

He even stated, "I've already fought and beaten Manny once. This time it will be the same result."

Mayweather is also scheduled for an exhibition bout against Mike Tyson in April 2026.

Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao, now 47, ended his retirement last year.

With a record of 62-8-3 and 39 knockouts, Pacquiao is ambitious to inflict Mayweather's first professional defeat.

"I want Floyd to live with one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him," Pacquiao said confidently.

Before this rematch, Pacquiao is scheduled to face Ruslan Provodnikov in a 10-round exhibition bout on April 18 in Las Vegas, and previously fought Mario Barrios in July 2025, which ended in a draw.

Remembering the 2015 'Fight of the Century'

The first meeting between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May 2015 was dubbed the "Fight of the Century" due to the incredible global anticipation.

The fight set a record with 4.6 million pay-per-view (PPV) buys and generated $72 million in live gate revenue at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Mayweather ultimately won the fight via unanimous decision with scores of 118–110, 116–112, and 116–112.

However, the outcome of the fight was marred by controversy after Pacquiao revealed that he was fighting with a shoulder injury.

According to Pacquiao, he did not want to delay the event and continued the fight.

This revelation added a dramatic twist to his first loss to Mayweather and was one of the reasons why the rematch was so highly anticipated.

“Floyd and I gave the world what remains the biggest fight in boxing history."

The rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is organized and produced by EverWonder Studio, Hidden Empire, and Limitless X Holdings.

Promotion of the fight is handled by Manny Pacquiao Promotions and Mayweather Promotions, in association with CSI Sports/Fight Sports.

“Floyd and I gave the world what remains the biggest fight in boxing history,” Pacquiao said.

“The fans have waited long enough—they deserve this rematch, and it will be even bigger now that it will be streamed live globally on Netflix. I want Floyd to live with the one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him. As always, I dedicate this fight to my fellow Filipinos around the world and to bringing glory to the Philippines.”
