Liputan6.com, Jakarta - British actor and comedian Russell Brand recently became the center of public attention after rumors of his death spread widely on social media that emerged on March 10, 2026.

However, Brand quickly denied the rumors, asserting that he was alive and in good health.

The spread of this false information began with an ambiguous post by a conservative commentator on the platform X, which was then misinterpreted by many users.

The post sparked a wave of speculation, making Russell Brand's name a trending topic.

In response to the ensuing uproar, Russell Brand himself issued a clarification via his personal X account, confirming that he was "quite healthy" and "did not commit suicide," as rumored.

How Russell Brand's Death Rumors Began?

Rumors of Russell Brand's death first emerged from a cryptic social media post by conservative commentator Dan Bongino.

On March 10, 2026, Bongino, known as the former Deputy Director of the FBI and now a radio host, shared two photos on X with a mournful caption.

The caption read, "There will never be another. One of the saddest days of my life. He was so different. And everyone who knew him knows it. May God rest your soul."

Interestingly, Bongino's post did not explicitly mention anyone by name.

One of the accompanying photos showed Bongino sitting with Russell Brand and conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was known to have died six months earlier.

The second photo showed Bongino wearing an FBI jacket, adding to the mystery for some readers.

Because Russell Brand was prominently featured in the first photo and no name was mentioned in the post, many social media users mistakenly interpreted Bongino as referring to Brand's death.

In fact, Bongino's post was actually a tribute to Charlie Kirk, a close personal friend.

The Rapid Spread of Rumors on Social Media

The misinformation surrounding Russell Brand was further exacerbated when Jackson Clarke, a user with approximately 39,000 followers, retweeted Dan Bongino's post.

On March 10, 2026, at 7:41 PM ET, Clarke wrote, "I can't believe this is how I found out Russell Brand died," which sparked a massive response.

Within hours, Clarke's post garnered thousands of replies and likes, demonstrating how quickly rumors can spread and go viral.

Many other users responded with confusion, with one writing, "Wait... what? Is Russell Brand really dead?"

Russell Brand's Current Status and Legal Issues

Despite rumors, Russell Brand is currently alive, and there are no credible reports that he is seriously ill, hospitalized, or in any other medical condition.

Brand continues to be active and live his life, despite facing significant legal challenges about multiple sexual misconduct allegations involving six women in the UK.

In April 2025, the Crown Prosecution Service authorized five charges against him, including two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault.

These alleged offenses reportedly occurred between 1999 and 2005, spanning a significant period of time.Brand pleaded not guilty to all five charges at London's Southwark Crown Court in May 2025.

Two additional charges followed in December 2025 after two more women came forward.

These new charges include one count of rape and one count of sexual assault, allegedly dating back to 2009. Brand pleaded not guilty to these new charges in February 2026.

The trial on the original charges is scheduled to begin on June 3, 2026, and is expected to last four to five weeks.
