Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Global pop star Britney Spears, 44, reportedly voluntarily entered a treatment facility in April 2026.

This step came about a month after her arrest for alleged driving under the influence (DUI) in early March.

Her representative confirmed her decision to seek treatment to various leading media outlets, including PEOPLE, ABC News, and NBC News.

A source close to Spears stated that Spears checked into the facility in the United States a few days before April 12, 2026, after being urged by those close to her to seek help.

A source stated that the "Toxic" singer realized she had hit rock bottom and agreed to voluntarily enter the rehabilitation program.

Spears' treatment program will reportedly last 30 days, although it is possible she could stay longer if needed.

Voluntary Steps After DUI Incident

Britney Spears' representative called the March 2026 DUI incident "an unfortunate and completely inexcusable incident."

They also stated that Britney would "take the appropriate steps and comply with the law," and hoped this would be "the first step in the long-overdue changes that need to happen in Britney's life."

The representative also expressed hope that Britney Spears would receive "the help and support she needs during this difficult time."

The decision to voluntarily enter rehab was seen as a positive strategic move, especially considering her scheduled court appearance on the DUI charges on May 4, 2026.

How the DUI Arrest in March Happened

Britney Spears was arrested on March 4, 2026, on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) in Ventura County, California.

The arrest was made by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) after Spears was reported to be driving "erratically at a high rate of speed" on the highway.

CHP officers stated that Britney "exhibited signs of impairment" and underwent a series of field sobriety tests.

Authorities also found substances in her car, according to law enforcement sources.

Following her arrest, Britney Spears was released the following day. She is scheduled to appear in court on May 4, 2026, in connection with the DUI charge.

Britney Spears' Rehab Long Journey

This is not Britney Spears' first time in rehab; she underwent similar treatment in 2007 and 2008 following public disturbances and child custody battles.

During her controversial conservatorship, she was even forced into rehab by her father, Jamie Spears.

Britney Spears was released from the nearly 14-year conservatorship in 2021.

In 2023, police conducted a welfare check after she danced on camera with two large knives, which she later claimed were fake.

Although she deactivated her Instagram account following her DUI arrest, Britney previously wrote on Instagram a few weeks after her arrest, "Thank you for all your support... spending time with family and friends is such a blessing!!! Stay well!!!"
