Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Paramount Pictures and Activision officially announced the release date for the film adaptation of the popular video game franchise, Call of Duty.

The highly anticipated announcement was made on April 16, 2026, during Paramount's CinemaCon 2026 presentation.

The film, a co-production between Paramount Pictures and Activision, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 30, 2028.

Peter Berg, director known for works such as Lone Survivor and Deepwater Horizon, will direct this ambitious project.

The screenplay will be co-written by Berg and Taylor Sheridan, creator of the Yellowstone series.

“Taylor and I are both deeply connected to the special ops community,” Berg said in a video message to the annual convention of movie theater owners.

The Call of Duty film project was first announced in 2025.

Production Details and Behind-the-Scenes Team

The Call of Duty movie will be directed by Peter Berg, a filmmaker known for his ability to craft intense action films and dramas.

Berg has expressed his desire to approach the film with authenticity and scope, drawing on his deep connections to the special operations community.

The screenplay will be co-written by Peter Berg and Taylor Sheridan.

Sheridan, best known for his work on Yellowstone and as the writer of Sicario, brings experience in creating strong narratives and complex characters.

The Call of Duty film production will involve big names like Peter Berg, Taylor Sheridan, David Glasser of 101 Studios, and Rob Kostich, President of Activision, as producers.

Anticipation and Mysterious Plot

While the release date and main creative team have been announced, story details about the Call of Duty film remain under wraps.

Activision previously surveyed players to determine which sub-franchises they wanted adapted, such as Black Ops, Modern Warfare, Zombies, or a new story.

To date, no casting details have been announced for the Call of Duty film.

The early stages of development mean that casting will likely continue for some time.

Interestingly, previous reports suggested that Activision had turned down an offer from legendary director Steven Spielberg to direct the film.

Spielberg's refusal was due to his desire for full creative control over production, marketing, and the final cut.
