The Colleton County Coroner's Office officially declared Carter died from "blunt injuries" sustained in the accident, and his death was classified as an accident.

A 2026 Tesla sedan traveling southbound on U.S. Route 21 in South Carolina reportedly "left the roadway, struck a pole and a fence, before overturning."
