In this longer-than-usual two-hour episode, MrBeast introduced a unique advantage never seen before.
The advantage, dubbed the "MrBeast Super Beware Advantage," has the potential to drastically change the course of the game.
Most notably, the cash prize the winner would receive, making it one of the most historic moments in the 50 seasons of the popular reality show.
MrBeast's Surprise at the Survivor 50 Auction
MrBeast's appearance at Survivor 50 was hinted at early in the season, but the details weren't fully revealed until episode 10.
He appeared during the returning Survivor auction, carrying a mysterious suitcase that piqued the curiosity of both contestants and viewers.
From the suitcase, Mr. Beast introduced the "Mr. Beast Super Beware Advantage," a new advantage whose mechanics would be further explained at Tribal Council.
If a player correctly chose the coin, they would automatically be safe from elimination, receive an immunity idol, and, most shockingly, the Survivor prize pool would jump to $2 million.
However, if they lost, the prize pool would remain at $1 million, the vote would be voided, and the player who flipped the coin would be eliminated and become a member of the jury.
Rick Devens, one of the remaining contestants, bravely volunteered to take the risk.
In a tense moment, Devens successfully won the coin flip, instantly doubling the winner's prize pool.
Significant Impact on Survivor Prizes and History
Rick Devens' coin flip victory thanks to the "Mr. Beast Super Beware Advantage" marked the first time in Survivor history that the prize pool reached $2 million.
The 50th season of Survivor, titled Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, was designed to actively engage fans.
Game mechanics and production design were chosen through online public voting, including the idea of featuring celebrity appearances.
Some felt the celebrity appearances distracted from the main focus of the game, but Mr. Beast's impact on the prize money was considered the most significant change.
Previously, Survivor host Jeff Probst also co-hosted the second season of the Amazon Prime Video reality series, Beast Games.
Game Dynamics and the Latest Elimination
This tenth episode of Survivor 50 highlighted not only Mr. Beast's performance but also the increasingly intense game dynamics among the ten remaining contestants.
The two-hour episode length provided ample room for drama and strategy.
Before this episode, Christian Hubicki was eliminated in episode 9 after a challenge involving Jimmy Fallon.
After Rick Devens' victory with the Mr. Beast advantage that changed the prize, Tribal Council proceeded.
In a tense elimination, Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick ultimately had to leave the competition.
With Stephenie's elimination, the contestant pool was further narrowed, and the pressure to survive intensified.
