Confirmation of Clint Eastwood's retirement came from his son, Kyle Eastwood, a jazz musician and composer.
Kyle revealed the news in an interview with French broadcaster France 3 (also known as France Info), which later resurfaced in June 2026.
This news emerged shortly after Clint Eastwood celebrated his 96th birthday on May 31, 2026.
Although there has been no official statement from Clint Eastwood himself or his representatives, his son's statement was widely taken as confirmation that he had retired from film.

Kyle Eastwood, also a musician, announced his father's retirement in an interview conducted in November 2025.
In a recently revealed interview with French media outlet France 3, Eastwood's son, musician and composer Kyle Eastwood, revealed that his father has officially and quietly retired.
“I have a lot of good memories of working with him. Now he’s retired, he’s 95 years old,” said Kyle Eastwood, prior to his father’s birthday. “But I’ve been very lucky to be able to work with him on a lot of films. It was a great experience for me."
