Liputan6.com, Jakarta - The long wait for Kingdom Hearts fans was finally answered with the surprise release of the Kingdom Hearts 4 teaser trailer on June 9, 2026, during a Nintendo Direct event.
This premiere trailer not only revealed an early look at gameplay but also confirmed the game's simultaneous launch on major platforms, including the Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

This Kingdom Hearts 4 debut marked its first public appearance since its initial announcement at the franchise's 20th anniversary event in 2022, reigniting excitement among the gaming community.
In the trailer, Sora is seen engaging in combat against a giant Heartless in a mysterious city known as Quadratum.
This location is described as a place where Sora will encounter a diverse cast of characters and embark on a journey across multiple worlds, where new characters will cross his path and new powers will awaken in the next chapter.
New Gameplay and Character Details
The Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer explicitly shows Sora wielding his Keyblade in intense combat across city streets and office buildings, providing a first glimpse into the gameplay mechanics.
The game's official description further explains that Sora will interact with several individuals in Quadratum and explore various worlds, awakening new abilities along the way.
In addition to Sora, the trailer also introduces characters like Strelitzia, familiar from the mobile game, as well as several new faces who have yet to be fully identified.
A masked figure appearing in the trailer is suspected to be Vali from the mobile game Dark Road, while Luxord, a member of Organization XIII, is seen wearing a suit.
One of the most intriguing moments in the trailer is the appearance of Young Xehanort holding an umbrella for Sora, a scene that sparked widespread speculation among fans given that Xehanort's storyline was supposed to conclude in Kingdom Hearts 3.
While iconic Disney characters Donald Duck and Goofy are also seen, they are not with Sora in most scenes, and the trailer is surprisingly minimal in terms of Disney or Final Fantasy elements other than those two characters.
Multi-Platform Availability and the Classic Collection
Square Enix has officially confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 4 will launch simultaneously on all major platforms.
In addition to its availability on Nintendo Switch 2, the game will also be playable on PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, ensuring widespread accessibility for players.
Along with the reveal of the Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer, Square Enix also announced the release of the "Kingdom Hearts Collection," a comprehensive package containing the three previous games.
This collection includes Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts 3 + Re Mind, offering a complete experience for both new and old fans.
Classic Collection Release
The complete collection is scheduled for release on October 8, 2026, with pre-orders starting June 9, 2026.
Additionally, a free demo for Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind on Nintendo Switch 2 will be available starting June 9, 2026, giving players a chance to experience the games before the full collection's release.
While gameplay details and platform availability have been revealed, a definitive release date or window for Kingdom Hearts 4 has not yet been announced by Square Enix.
Director Tetsuya Nomura stated in 2025 that Kingdom Hearts 4, along with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, showed "great progress" in development.
