The shooting incident at Fort Stewart began when reports of shots fired were received in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area.

Authorities responded immediately, and the base went into full lockdown at 11:04 a.m. as an emergency precaution.

This lockdown also included the three elementary schools within the Fort Stewart complex, ensuring the safety of students and staff.
