"Star Wars: Starfighter" will officially transport audiences to an uncharted era in the Star Wars timeline.

Directed by Shawn Levy, the film is neither a prequel nor a sequel, but an entirely new, original adventure.

The initial announcement of "Star Wars: Starfighter" was made at Star Wars Celebration Japan in April 2025, immediately capturing global attention.

Production on the film officially began in late August 2025.

Lucasfilm even released the first photo of Ryan Gosling on set, showing Gosling and Flynn Gray sitting in a Landspeeder-like vehicle, providing an early glimpse into the film's visuals.

"Star Wars: Starfighter" will be the next Star Wars film to hit theaters after "The Mandalorian & Grogu," which is scheduled for release on May 22, 2026.
