Donnarumma Officially Joins Manchester City, Ederson Moves to Fenerbahce?

Manchester City successfully completed the transfer of Gianluigi Donnarumma for around £25.9 million (€30 million).

The deal, reached on transfer deadline day, demonstrated City's speed and precision in securing its target.

Donnarumma signed a five-year contract with the option of a further year, tying him to the Etihad until at least 2030.

As part of the deal, Ederson, Manchester City's previous first-choice goalkeeper, moved to Fenerbahçe for around £12.1 million (€14 million).

Although City had previously signed James Trafford from Burnley that same summer, Donnarumma was projected to immediately become the first-choice goalkeeper.

Before joining Manchester City, Donnarumma had spent the majority of his senior career at two major European clubs.

He began his professional career at AC Milan before moving to Paris Saint-Germain.

Donnarumma began his illustrious senior career at AC Milan in 2015, making his Rossoneri debut at the tender age of 16 years and 8 months.

During his six years with Milan, he made 251 appearances in all competitions, keeping 88 clean sheets.

His role was crucial in helping Milan finish second in Serie A in the 2020–21 season, securing Champions League qualification after an eight-year absence.

After his contract expired on July 15, 2021, Donnarumma officially joined PSG, signing a five-year deal.

He made his PSG debut on September 11, 2021, and his UEFA Champions League debut against Manchester City on September 28, 2021.

With PSG, he won numerous prestigious titles, including Ligue 1 (four times), the Coupe de France (twice), the Trophée des Champions (three times), and the UEFA Champions League title in the 2024–25 season.

In the national team level, Donnarumma has represented Italy at various youth levels, from U15 to U21.

He made his senior international debut in September 2016, becoming the youngest goalkeeper ever to appear for Italy at the age of 17 years and 189 days.
