The Spread of Trump Health Hoaxes on Social Media

Over the Labor Day weekend, false claims about Donald Trump's health and even his death flooded social media platforms like X and TikTok.

These posts quickly went viral, creating a baseless narrative among users.

The primary fuel for these rumors was Trump's lack of public appearances for several days, which was then misinterpreted by some.

Various social media posts also cited Trump's empty public schedule the previous weekend and a USA Today interview with J.D. Vance.

Some videos on TikTok even questioned Trump's health and demanded answers from the White House, further fueling the hoax narrative.

Finally, some social media users openly claimed that Donald Trump had died and that the White House was hiding the information.

Donald Trump's Firm Response

On September 2, 2025, Trump made a public appearance in the Oval Office of the White House.

Addressing the media, he stated that he was "very active over the weekend," refuting claims about his absence.

"I didn't hear that one, that's pretty serious stuff," the U.S. president said, after listing some of his activities in recent days.

When Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked, "How did you know over the weekend that you were dead?", Trump replied that he hadn't heard the claims and reiterated that they were "fake news."

He also complained that after holding several press conferences the previous week, his two-day absence fueled speculation that "something must be wrong with him."

In a post on Truth Social on Sunday night, Trump also asserted that he felt "never better in my life."

Donald Trump Health Condition

At 79 years old, Donald Trump's health has becomes the public attention, especially since his return to the White House in January 2025.

In July 2025, the White House issued a clarification regarding the discoloration of Trump's right hand.

They explained that the condition was due to "tissue irritation from frequent handshakes" and his use of aspirin as part of his standard cardiovascular care.

Two doctors went on to address Trump's bruising in the weeks that followed, including Trump's physician, Dr Sean Barbabella, who explained: "Recent photos of the President have shown minor bruising on the back of his hand.

"This is consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen.

"This is a well-known and benign side effect of aspirin therapy."

Furthermore, his swollen feet were explained as being caused by chronic venous insufficiency, a common but benign venous condition.

Despite these conditions, presidential physician Sean Barbabella officially stated that Donald Trump "remains in excellent health."

Trump's former physician, Ronny Jackson, also added: “As President Trump's former personal physician, former Physician to the President, and White House physician for 14 years across three administrations, I can tell you unequivocally: President Donald J. Trump is the healthiest president this nation has ever seen."
