The two reconnected in December 2024 at the funeral of North's first wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Stuart North.
The marriage drew attention because of its close ties to the Iran-Contra scandal of the 1980s.
At the time, Fawn Hall was fiercely loyal to Oliver North, even risking her own life to assist North in his efforts to obstruct the investigation.

Fawn Hall's Role in the Iran-Contra Scandal
Fawn Hall, born around 1959 in Annandale, Virginia, began working for Oliver North at the National Security Council (NSC) in February 1983 as his secretary.
Her role became crucial when the Iran-Contra scandal broke in November 1986.
She actively assisted North and other NSC staff in obstructing official investigations, including altering, destroying, and removing documents related to the scandal from the White House.
In her extensive testimony, Fawn Hall admitted to helping North alter and destroy documents, even stating that so many documents were destroyed that the paper shredder jammed.
She also notoriously smuggled classified documents out of the Old Executive Office Building by hiding them in her boots and clothing.
In exchange for her testimony, Hall was granted immunity from prosecution, and her testimony proved invaluable in the legal proceedings against North and John M. Poindexter.
Oliver North: The Mastermind Behind the Secret Operation
Oliver Laurence North, a retired US Marine Corps lieutenant colonel and Vietnam War veteran, was a central figure and considered the "mastermind" behind the Iran-Contra scandal.
Assigned to the National Security Council in 1981, North proposed a plan to secretly sell arms to Iran at inflated prices, with some of the proceeds diverted to fund the Contras, an anti-Sandinista rebel group in Nicaragua.
North not only oversaw an organization called "The Enterprise" for arms transfers but also actively solicited personal donations for the Contras.
In congressional testimony, he admitted to misleading Congress and destroying government documents related to these activities, defending his actions by stating his belief in the goal of helping the Contras as freedom fighters.
In 1989, North was initially convicted on three felony counts, including aiding in obstruction of Congress and destroying documents.
However, his conviction was later overturned, and the charges against him were dismissed in 1990/1991 due to immunized testimony.
Following the scandal, North turned to conservative political commentator, author, and even served as president of the National Rifle Association (NRA) from 2018 to 2019.
