Gameplay Innovation and a Limitless Experience in Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 is built using Unreal Engine 5, the latest graphics technology that enables more stunning visuals and more detailed environments.

Gearbox describes the game world as “seamless,” meaning players can explore new areas without encountering annoying loading screens.

New features introduced in Borderlands 4 include new vehicles and innovative traversal tools like the grappling hook, which add dynamics to exploration and combat.

Players can enjoy the game solo or in cooperative mode with up to three other players, continuing the series' signature co-op tradition.

The game is slated to be the largest and most open-ended in the Borderlands series to date, offering unprecedented freedom of exploration.

Additionally, Borderlands 4 is the first game in the series to feature cross-play, allowing Vault Hunters to play together regardless of their platform of choice, strengthening the player community.

Player Enthusiasm and Initial Technical Challenges

At launch, Borderlands 4 received largely positive initial reviews from various media outlets.

Several video game sites gave mixed reviews, but most gave it good scores. For example, IGN gave it 8/10, Metacritic 7/10, and Gamespot 84%.

Many critics praised the game's more mature writing, action-packed combat, and likable characters, marking a return to the series' classic looter shooter roots after previous games divided fans.

However, Borderlands 4 faced performance issues at launch, with hundreds of Steam reviews mentioning frequent performance drops and crashes, even on high-spec hardware.

This issue was a major concern for some players, but Gearbox quickly responded by releasing a 2.7GB post-launch patch that reportedly mitigated the crashes.

Despite initial technical challenges, Borderlands 4 managed to break the peak concurrent player record on Steam for the series, reaching over 199,000 players.

What is ShiFT Code and How to Use It?

SHiFT codes are back in Borderlands 4, offering the chance to unlock rare loot like Legendary Weapons and Gear, along with cosmetic skins, and more for free.

SHiFT Codes in Borderlands 4 are unique, single-use codes that can be exchanged for Golden Keys, which are then used to open Golden Chests found in the game in major Faction Towns such as The Launchpad, Carcadia, Belton's Bore, and The Lockaway.

Here's a complete list of all active SHiFT codes in Borderlands 4, along with how to earn and redeem them in-game, according to Gamespot.

  • T9RJB-BFKRR-3RBTW-B33TB-KCZB9 (1 x Golden Key)
  • THRBT-WW6CB-56TB5-3B3BJ-XBW3X (1 x Golden Key) [Expires September 30]

To redeem your Shift code, you'll first need to create a Shift account on the Gearbox website.

The process is quick and easy, and you can then activate your Shift code on the same website, through the in-game Social menu, or through the Borderlands 4 Social menu at launch.

Another thing to note about Shift codes is that they typically have an expiration date, so it's best to redeem them as soon as possible.
