Highlights of the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards 2025

The eligibility period for the 2025 Emmy Awards covers programs that premiered between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025.

Nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on July 15, 2025, at the Television Academy's Wolf Theatre.

Actor Harvey Guillén and actress Brenda Song, along with Television Academy Chairman Cris Abrego, presided over the announcement.

Several nominations for Best Reality Competition Program and Best Talk Series were announced earlier on CBS Mornings.

The nominations list featured a tight race, with 'Severance' (Apple TV+) leading the way with 27 nominations.

It was followed by 'The Penguin' (HBO) with 24 nominations, and 'The Studio' (Apple TV+) with 23 nominations.

Other popular series such as 'The White Lotus,' 'The Pitt,' 'Hacks,' 'Slow Horses,' and 'The Bear' also made up the list of potential winners.

The Prestigious 2025 Emmy Winners List

The 2025 Emmy Awards finale witnessed the dominance of several outstanding series and talents.

'The Pitt' (HBO Max) won the top award for Best Drama Series, solidifying its position in the television drama scene.

Meanwhile, 'The Studio' (Apple TV+) took home the trophy for Best Comedy Series.

“I so could not wrap my head around this happening… I’ve never won anything in my life,” Rogen said accepting the acting prize.

Before this year, Rogen’s last notable prize came for “Best Gut-Wrenching Performance” at the MTV Movie Awards a decade ago.

Rogen would later win along with co-creator Evan Goldberg for comedy directing as The Studio built momentum before taking the big award.

“I’m legitimately embarrassed by how happy this makes me,” Rogen said upon winning best comedy.

The series not only won in the main category, but also earned awards for comedy writing and directing, breaking the Creative Arts Emmy record with nine wins, making it the most awards for a comedy in a single season.

In the Limited Series category, 'Adolescence' (Netflix) emerged victorious as the winner for Best Limited Series, garnering a total of six awards.

The actors and actresses also delivered brilliant performances. Noah Wyle won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for 'The Pitt', and Britt Lower won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for 'Severance'.

In the comedy categories, Seth Rogen was named Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for 'The Studio,' while Jean Smart again won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for 'Hacks.'

Stephen Graham and Cristin Milioti won Best Actor and Lead Actress in a Limited Series for 'Adolescence' and 'The Penguin,' respectively.

The supporting actor and actress categories also made history in this year award.

Tramell Tillman ('Severance') became the first Black man to win Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Owen Cooper (15) from 'Adolescence' became the youngest person ever nominated and won Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series, a remarkable achievement.

Katherine LaNasa ('The Pitt'), Hannah Einbinder ('Hacks'), and Erin Doherty ('Adolescence') also won awards in the supporting categories.

Prior to the main event, the 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards aired on Saturday, September 6, and Sunday, September 7.

The awards recognized technical and artistic excellence behind the scenes, with preliminary winners from 'The Pitt,' 'Severance,' and 'The Studio' announced.

'Gilmore Girls' celebrated its 25th anniversary with a recreation of the iconic set, attended by Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham.
