He had a diverse family background, including a Swedish grandmother and a Jamaican grandfather.

His early education at Overdale Primary School and Ruffwood School, and then at the age of 14, he attended Liverpool's Everyman Theatre.

Stephen Graham began his acting career in the 1990s with small roles in popular TV shows such as 'The Bill' and 'Coronation Street'.

His breakthrough role came in 2000 as Tommy in 'Snatch', followed by the iconic role of Andrew "Combo" Gascoigne in 'This Is England' (2006) and its television sequel.
