The gruesome discovery occurred on September 8, 2025, at a salvage yard in Hollywood, Los Angeles, after employees reported a strong odor emanating from the vehicle.

The victim was later identified as Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a 15-year-old who was reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California, in April 2024.

Celeste was 13 at the time, and her mother confirmed that the body description released by police matched her missing daughter.

The Tesla was registered to David Anthony Burke, better known as the singer d4vd.

"At this time, the LAPD does not have a crime classification from the coroner as to the mode or manner of death. Thus, we do not have any suspect information at this time,” the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.

The body's advanced state of decomposition made initial identification difficult, but it was eventually confirmed as Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Tuesday that it has confirmed with "the Los Angeles Police Department that Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the juvenile who was reported missing from Lake Elsinore."

The Tesla in which the body was found was registered to David Anthony Burke, also known as the singer d4vd.

Representatives for d4vd have stated that the singer is fully cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation.

D4vd was also forced to cancel a show in Seattle and was removed from marketing campaigns by major brands like Crocs and Hollister.

In fact, singer Kali Uchis even announced she would be pulling her collaboration with d4vd, titled "Crashing," after the news broke.
