The tragic shooting in North Codorus Township occurred on the afternoon of September 17, 2025, following a 911 call.

Officers responded to the report and arrived at a farmhouse to serve an arrest warrant.

While serving, a man targeted by the warrant opened fire on the officers and a shootout was inevitable, resulting in law enforcement casualties.

The location of the shooting in Pennsylvania was a rural road surrounded by farmland, complete with barns and fields.

The area is located not far from the Maryland border.

According to BBC, the shooting forced the nearby school district in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania—a small town of about 2,500 people—to temporarily shelter in place.

The district later stated that the school was not affected.

"We grieve for the loss of life of three precious souls who served this county, served this commonwealth, served this country," Shapiro said.

"This kind of violence is not OK, we need to do better as a society."

U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi also condemned violence against police, calling it "a scourge on our society."

As a precaution, the local school district issued a shelter-in-place order, even though the school and students were not directly involved in the shooting.
