The 90-second trailer features thrilling action footage of Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, and his young apprentice, Grogu, also known as Baby Yoda.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, 2026, marking the return of Star Wars to the big screen after a long hiatus since "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" in 2019.

The newly released trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu features many intriguing elements that hint at the film's story direction.

Din Djarin and Grogu are seen parking the Razor Crest on a beach, hinting at an adventure in a new location.

The film will pick up where the events of the third season of the Disney+ series "The Mandalorian" left off.

The official synopsis states that after the fall of the Empire, Din Djarin and Grogu are asked by the New Republic to help maintain peace in the galaxy.

Jon Favreau, director and writer, confirmed that the film is a "new adventure" centered on the theme of parenting.

Several iconic scenes appear in the trailer, such as the adorable Grogu flipping switches, enjoying snacks, and interacting with Anzellan.

Mando is also seen blowing up an AT-AT, while Grogu shoots a monster with green goo, eliciting a "Nice shot, baby!" from Babu Frik.

"The Mandalorian and Grogu" will see Pedro Pascal reprise his role as Din Djarin and Grogu as the title character.

The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, a new New Republic pilot.

Jeremy Allen White will also voice Rotta the Hutt, adding to the exciting cast.

Several familiar faces from the series will also return, including Jonny Coyne as an Imperial Warlord and Dave Filoni reprising his role as New Republic pilot Trapper Wolf.

Zeb Orrelios from "Star Wars Rebels" also makes his live-action debut in the "The Mandalorian and Grogu" trailer, along with Babu Frik from "The Rise of Skywalker."

Jon Favreau directed and wrote the screenplay with Dave Filoni.

Kathleen Kennedy, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce served as producers, while Ludwig Göransson provided the film's music.

“It’s a very generational brand, and we want to sustain that, and we work hard to sustain that,” Kathleen Kennedy said.

“So George [Lucas] gave us the gift of storytelling being across lots of different genres, and that gives us a lot of opportunity to try things.

Filming took place from June to December 2024 at various locations in Los Angeles.

The development of "The Mandalorian and Grogu" has had an interesting history, since Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni were initially working on the fourth season of the series in February 2023.

Lucasfilm decided to prioritize the film over the fourth season of the series, and the official announcement was made in January 2024.

Early footage was shown at various conventions such as Disney's D23 in August 2024 and D23 Brazil in November 2024, building fan anticipation.

The film is scheduled for release exclusively in theaters and in IMAX on May 22, 2026.
