Tyreek Hill Suffers Serious Knee Injury, Is Dolphins' 2025 Season in Threat?

The horrific injury required Hill to be brought off the field.

The incident occurred in the third quarter after Hill made a 10-yard catch from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

While being tackled by Jets safety Malachi Moore, Hill's left leg became trapped underneath him and bent at an unnatural angle, causing a painful-looking injury.

The Dolphins' initial medical diagnosis indicated a dislocated knee.

This injury could potentially sideline Tyreek Hill for the remainder of the 2025 season, with his availability for the 2026 season in doubt.

Tyreek Hill's injury occurred in the middle of a crucial game for the Miami Dolphins.

After catching the ball, Hill was immediately targeted by a Jets defender, Malachi Moore, and in the incident, his leg was in an awkward position.

Medical staff immediately rushed to administer first aid on the field, stabilizing Hill's leg with an air cast.

Despite being in very serious condition and in pain, Hill displayed remarkable fortitude, waving and smiling to fans as he was carried off the field on a cart.

After being removed from the field, Tyreek Hill was immediately rushed to a local hospital.

Hill had been taken to a local hospital for imaging, evaluation and observation, the team had said, and McDaniel indicated that he would remain there overnight, as reported by New York Post.

The Miami Dolphins officially announced that Tyreek Hill is undergoing intensive evaluation for his knee injury.

Head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that Hill has suffered a dislocated knee, and the team believes this is the most likely diagnosis.

“He was probably in the best spirits of any player that I’ve ever seen [have] such a terrible experience,” McDaniel said after the game.

“He immediately had wide eyes and was talking, ‘I’m good, just make sure the guys get this win.’ He was focused on the team.” 

A knee dislocation is a very serious injury, much more severe than a typical kneecap dislocation.

This condition is often accompanied by multiple ligament tears, as reported by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Furthermore, there is a risk of injury to the popliteal artery, which is vital for blood supply to the lower leg.

If the knee dislocation diagnosis is confirmed, Tyreek Hill will almost certainly miss the remainder of the 2025 season.

This would be a significant blow to the Miami Dolphins, who are currently battling for a playoff berth.

Hill's availability for the 2026 season is also in doubt, given his 31-year-old age and the lengthy recovery time required for an injury of this severity.

The absence of one of the league's best wide receivers will further complicate the team's chances of success.

With Tyreek Hill out, Jaylen Waddle is expected to take over as the Dolphins' starting wide receiver.

The team must quickly adapt to this change to maintain their competitiveness for the remainder of the season.

Before this injury, Tyreek Hill had been impressive early in the 2025 season, by recording 15 catches for 198 yards and one touchdown in the first three weeks.

In the game against the Jets, Hill also had six catches for 67 yards before the injury.

Throughout his career, Tyreek Hill has been known for his relatively healthy playing style, rarely missing serious injuries.

He has missed only one game with the Dolphins and only once in consecutive games in 2019 with the Kansas City Chiefs.
