Instructions:

1. Prepare the gelatin mixture by adding the gelatin powder to half a cup of cold water in a mixing bowl. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. 

2. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, salt, and the remaining half cup of water. Place the pan on medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves completely. Once it starts to boil, stop stirring and attach a candy thermometer to the side of the pan.

3. Allow the sugar mixture to cook until it reaches about 240°F (115°C).  Reaching the right temperature helps the marshmallow set properly later. Remove the pan from the heat as soon as the temperature is reached.
