Nothing OS 4.0 Stable Release: Revolutionary AI Integration, What Are the Features?

The Nothing OS 4.0 stable release is scheduled to begin its public rollout on Friday, November 21, 2025.

This update builds on the foundation of Android 16, offering the latest stability and features from the Android ecosystem.

The Nothing Phone (3) is expected to be the first to receive this update, followed by the Nothing Phone (3a) series, the Nothing Phone (2) series, and CMF phones.

The open beta program for Nothing OS 4.0 has been running since late October, involving devices such as the Nothing Phone 2, Phone 3, Phone 2a, 2a Plus, 3a, and 3a Pro, which will likely receive the update on day one of launch.

The Nothing Phone 3a Lite is also expected to receive this update, as are devices under the CMF sub-brand running Nothing OS.

However, it's worth noting that the Nothing Phone (1) will not receive Nothing OS 4.0 as it has reached the end of its update window.

One of the key pillars of Nothing OS 4.0 is its AI-first strategy, placing artificial intelligence at the heart of the user experience.

This update introduces a variety of AI features designed to make interactions with your phone more intelligent and personalized.

Nothing OS 4.0 will feature the AI ​​Usage Dashboard, an innovative dashboard that tracks how apps use AI and gives users complete control over their data privacy.

Furthermore, the AI ​​voice assistant "Companion" is designed to learn user preferences and can display qualities like "thoughtful" or "funny" as desired.

Nothing aims to deeply embed artificial intelligence within Nothing OS to provide a more intuitive and responsive user experience.

Nothing OS 4.0 brings significant improvements to the user interface (UI) and design, creating a cleaner, smoother, and more personalized look.

One of the standout new features is Extra Dark Mode, an additional dark mode setting that provides deeper blacks, ideal for nighttime use and potentially saving battery life on OLED displays.

The Pop-Up View feature, or floating windows, is also present to facilitate easier multitasking, allowing users to seamlessly switch between two floating windows and resize them.

A more compact 2x2 quick settings tile layout is also included for a cleaner look in the notification panel.

For personalization, Nothing OS 4.0 offers two new lock screen watch face options, as well as a cleaner, more refined design that enhances Nothing's iconic dot-matrix style.

The photography sector also received updates in Nothing OS 4.0, with the introduction of new camera tools that include an updated interface and redesigned controls.

The "Stretch" camera feature, previously only available on the Nothing Phone 3, will now also be available on the Nothing Phone 2 series, subtly reframing and correcting the perspective of photos for more engaging results.

Furthermore, Nothing OS 4.0 introduces Essential Apps, or Nothing Playground, user-created widgets that can be shared on the Nothing Playground portal, enabling personalization without the need to install heavy apps.

The Lock Glimpse feature aims to display timely updates and useful content directly on the lock screen, although it is disabled by default on the Nothing Phone 3a series and does not collect personal data.

The update also promises improved performance, faster app launches, smoother multitasking, and an improved Always-On Display, as well as smart notifications with automatic grouping and Live Updates.
