Gang of Dragon: An Action Game from 'Yakuza' Creator, Starring Actor Ma Dong-seok

Nagoshi Studio Inc. officially introduced Gang of Dragon as its debut work at The Game Awards 2025.

The studio was founded in 2022 under NetEase Games, following Toshihiro Nagoshi's decision to leave SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio in 2021.

Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator of the "Yakuza" series, brings his vision and long experience in creating immersive crime narratives to this new project.

The decision to partner with NetEase Games as the studio's umbrella demonstrates Nagoshi's ambitious ambition to develop world-class games.

Gang of Dragon is set in Kabukicho, a famous nightlife district in Shinjuku, Tokyo that provide an authentic and intriguing atmosphere, perfectly fitting the game's underworld theme.

The game's main protagonist is Shin Ji-seong, a high-ranking member of a Korean crime syndicate operating in Kabukicho.

His character is portrayed as a powerful figure with intense human bonds.

Ma Dong-seok, an actor known for successful films such as "Train to Busan" and "The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil," was chosen to play Shin Ji-seong.

Gang of Dragon offers action-adventure gameplay from an intense third-person perspective.

The combat system centers on Shin Ji-seong's physical prowess, involving brutal hand-to-hand attacks, precise knife use, and intense gunfights.

Gameplay footage also shows high-speed vehicle action throughout the city, adding to the game's dynamic nature.

This aspect provides an experience similar to the "Yakuza" series, but with a grittier and more uncompromising feel.

Unlike "Yakuza" protagonists who tend to avoid killing, Shin Ji-seong in Gang of Dragon seems to have no qualms about using heavy weapons to take down enemies.

Toshihiro Nagoshi emphasized that the project will depict the lives of criminals on the streets of Kabukicho with unwavering honesty.

The mature content warning includes intense violence, blood, cruelty, and depictions of criminal elements and antisocial organizations that may be sensitive to some players.

Despite its official announcement, Gang of Dragon currently has a "Coming soon" or "To Be Announced" release date.

The game has been confirmed to be available for PC via Steam.

Speculation has also been circulating that it may be released on next-generation consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, although no official announcement has been made.

To reach a global audience, Gang of Dragon will support full voice acting in both Japanese and English.

Additionally, subtitles are available in various languages, including Korean, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Mandarin (Traditional & Simplified).
