A nine-second teaser video James shared on social media on October 6, 2025, shows him walking toward an empty chair and then sits across from a person whose identity remains unknown.

This announcement is said to be similar to 'The Decision' from 2010.

James even wore a shirt very similar to the one he wore when announcing his move to the Miami Heat.

Despite the unknown clarity, many speculate that LeBron James will announce his retirement from the NBA, which will be a full-circle moment for him to end his legendary career in dramatic fashion, similar to how he began a new chapter in Miami.

There are other interesting possibilities about the announcement such as a new business, a documentary project, or even a major media initiative.

Some observers have even speculated that this announcement may simply be an advertisement, especially since it coincides with Amazon Prime Day on October 7th.

Even so, NBA insider Ramona Shelburne cautioned against over-speculating.

While appearing on "NBA Today," Ramona Shelburne expressed her belief that this may not be a big announcement at all.

“We all obviously saw this and thought, ‘Whoa, is he announcing something?’” Shelburne said.

“But I don’t know that we should get all that worked up about it just from those first clips. It doesn’t sound like something to get too worried about. He did something similar earlier in the summer, and it ended up just being an ad. So, we’ll see what this turns out to be tomorrow.”

LeBron James is currently under contract with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2025-26 season.
