What is Savannah Bananas?
The Savannah Bananas are an independent baseball team known for their innovative and entertaining approach to the sport.
They play a variation of baseball called "Banana Ball," which emphasizes showmanship, fan interaction, and fast-paced play.
The team is often compared to baseball's Harlem Globetrotters, although their games remain competitive and unstructured.
Founded in 2016 as a collegiate summer league team in the Coastal Plain League (CPL), the Savannah Bananas won three Petitt Cup championships during their seven years in the CPL.
In 2022, the team decided to leave the CPL and focus on playing Banana Ball year-round as an independent professional team.
The Savannah Bananas' entertainment offerings are diverse and engaging, ranging from a senior dance team (the Banana Nanas), a dad-dad cheerleading squad (the Man-Nanas), to a youth dance team (the Banana Splitz).
Team owner Jesse Cole always appears in his signature yellow tuxedo.
Their home ground, Historic Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Georgia, is affectionately known as "Bananaland."

New Teams for the 2026 Season
The Savannah Bananas organization has grown rapidly, now hosting four independent professional teams: The Savannah Bananas, The Party Animals, The Firefighters, and The Texas Tailgaters.
For the 2026 season, the Banana Ball league will be even more vibrant with the addition of two new teams, the Loco Beach Coconuts and the Indianapolis Clowns.
The Indianapolis Clowns name has a rich and important history, derived from the famed Negro League team of the 1920s.
This Negro League team was known as the "Harlem Globetrotters of baseball" during its time and even inspired the 1976 film "The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings."Â
