Kim Kardashian explained that one of the main triggers was Kanye West's struggles with his mental health.
The rapper was diagnosed with bipolar disorder between 2016 and 2018.
Kardashian initially tried hard to support and help her husband through this difficult time, but there were limits.
"People can say that there was, like, signs and maybe I didn't wasn't paying attention to them," the mother of four admitted.
"And I think when someone has, like, their first, like, mental break, you know, you wanna be super supportive and you wanna, like, help figure that out and you wanna really get into that with them and and be there for them."
She added that West wasn't "willing to make changes" that she thought would be "super healthy and beneficial."
"It makes it really hard to continue on in a relationship that can be toxic," she said. "When you have kids, it's definitely harder to leave than it is to stay. And it changes everyone's life forever."
One incident she recounted involved Kanye giving away luxury Lamborghinis to his friends while he was having a mental episode.
"I would come home—and we had five Lamborghinis—and I would come home and everything would be gone if he was having an episode," Kardashian recalled.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's love story began with a lavish wedding in 2014, after several years of dating.
During their eight years together, they raised a family of four children: North, now 12, Saint (9), Chicago (7), and Psalm (6).
However, things started to turn sour in early 2021 when Kim Kardashian filed for divorce.
Their divorce proceedings were lengthy and garnered global media attention, until it was finally finalized in November 2022.
Kim Kardashian revealed that the "final straw" was when her own mental health began to suffer significantly.
She felt she could no longer be an effective mother to her children under these circumstances.
"I had to save myself to be a better mother for everyone," she said.
Kardashian Has No Regret for the Marriage
These days Kardashian said that her eldest daughter, North West, has urged her to find love again, saying, "You need to have a boyfriend now ... she just said to me like the other day, like, 'Mom, you've got to get remarried. You're getting too old and no one is gonna deal with this.' And I was just like, 'What?' She says it to me all the time."
Looking back on her marriage, Kardashian doesn't regret her time spent with West.
"An over a decade relationship with four beautiful children is not a failure," she said.
