Kim Kardashian Diagnosed with Brain Aneurysm: Was Divorce Stress a Trigger?

Kim Kardashian's brain aneurysm was publicly revealed on her family's television series, "The Kardashians."

In the clip, Kim is seen going into an MRI scanner and later tells her family, “There was a little aneurysm.”

This moment revealed the shocked reaction of her sister, Kourtney Kardashian, who shared her deep concern.

As for the doctor’s reasoning behind the detected aneurysm, Kim told her family, “They were like, ‘Just stress.’ ”

She even mentioned that the stress also caused a flare-up of her psoriasis.

“I haven’t had psoriasis since I got divorced, and it just started coming back,” she revealed, as she said she recently felt "pretty tested" by West, whom she married in 2014 and divorced in 2021.

Kim Kardashian chose the platform of her reality show, "The Kardashians," to share the news of her cerebellar aneurysm diagnosis.

The momentous occasion was captured while she underwent an MRI scan, a crucial diagnostic procedure for accurately detecting brain abnormalities.

After the scan results came back, Kim broke the news to her family, including her older sister, Kourtney Kardashian.

The SKIMS founder has faced significant stress in her life, with other footage showing her sobbing as she appears to be struggling on the bar exam for law school.

However, after revealing her aneurysm, the clip cuts to Kim crying while discussing her divorce from her ex-husband, Kanye "Ye" West, the father of her four children.

“I’m happy it’s over,” she says. “My ex will be in my life no matter what. We have four kids together.” 

Kim Kardashian has openly linked her cerebral aneurysm diagnosis to the extreme stress she experienced.

She attributed this stress to her long and tumultuous divorce from her ex-husband, Kanye West, which has been the subject of intense media attention.

Kim's doctor also supports the suggestion that stress was a major contributing factor to her aneurysm.

Chronic stress is known to trigger various physiological responses in the body, including increased blood pressure, which can potentially affect blood vessels and lead to aneurysm formation.

Kim also revealed that the same stress exacerbated her psoriasis.

According to the Mayo Clinic, a brain aneurysm is a condition in which a bulge or balloon forms in the wall of a blood vessel in the brain.

“If the brain aneurysm leaks or ruptures, it causes bleeding in the brain, known as a hemorrhagic stroke,” the Mayo Clinic said.

“Brain aneurysms are common. But most brain aneurysms aren't serious, especially if they're small. Most brain aneurysms don't rupture.” 

This bulge forms due to a weakening of the blood vessel wall and can vary in size, from very small to large.

Although most aneurysms are small and asymptomatic, their presence still requires close monitoring.

The main risk of a brain aneurysm is the potential for the balloon to rupture, which can cause bleeding in the brain, known as a hemorrhagic stroke.

The American Heart Association also highlights the link between stress and cardiovascular disease.

Chronic stress can trigger the release of hormones that increase blood pressure, and high blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart attack and stroke.
