The History of the LEGO Star Trek License

The LEGO Group's acquisition of the Star Trek license represents a significant step in the world of construction toys.

Previously, the Star Trek construction toy market was dominated by Mega Bloks, then known as Mega Construx.

They have released several sets, including a 3,098-piece replica of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701.

Mega Construx held the Star Trek license twice: in 2004 and again from 2016 to 2018.

BlueBrixx also held the license for Star Trek products.

However, BlueBrixx's license is scheduled to expire at the end of 2025.
